From Service to Spirit: The Impact of the IL Colors4Change Team

As the 2024-2025 school year comes to a close, the IL Colors4Change chapter has begun to think about Colors4Change and what the future holds for them. The IL chapter has also been looking back on its lasting impact, from hosting various donation drives to organizing fundraisers and sorting sessions. Throughout the last four years, the IL chapter has truly engaged their communities in the art of giving back, not only through art supplies but through efforts combating the COVID-19 pandemic and water scarcity around the world. By keeping our communities updated and involved through simple efforts from blog posts to global efforts, the IL team has demonstrated its commitment to service and the power of youth-driven change. As we depart to various cities and engage in different endeavors, each member of the IL chapter will take with them a piece of Colors4Change that will stay with them forever.

Here is what the IL Chapter members had to say:

Anya Acharya, President

Attending: University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

“Colors4Change has allowed me to find happiness in community service. Being on the team has broadened my perspective and changed me for the better. Colors4Change has taught me that small ideas can have a great impact. I’ve been inspired to think creatively and stay true to my passions. There are truly no boundaries to the reach of our impact!”

Zara Khan, VP of Social Media and Partnership

Attending: University of Rochester

“Through C4C, I’ve learned that art is more than just self-expression, but a powerful tool for confidence in people. Working with underprivileged children has taught me empathy and the importance of creating safe spaces where others feel seen and valued.”

Saatvi Durai, VP of Information and Outreach

Attending: University of Wisconsin-Madison

“Colors4Change has taught me the value of giving back and showed me that impact does not always have to be at a large scale, and even small efforts can make quite a difference.”

Samantha Oh, VP of Marketing and Communications

Attending: San Diego State University

“Being a part of Colors4Change has been the most fulfilling experience, as I was able to work with my team to make a difference in our community. I gained valuable leadership experience and it was rewarding to give back to those in need.”

As we start this new chapter in our lives, the IL chapter is extremely grateful for all of the opportunities and lessons Colors4Change has granted to us, and how it has made us more passionate, more driven, and more eager to make a difference in our world.
