Colors4Change’s Summer Recap

This June, Colors4Change reached its 5th anniversary! To celebrate the milestone, we have been keeping busy.

Coming off a sorting session held in conjunction with High School North’s Leo Club, Colors4Change’s New Jersey chapter partnered with various local YMCA chapters to donate supplies in perpetuity, allowing students enrolled in YMCA programs to continue having access to art supplies. Furthermore, these art supplies were also donated to the Arts Council for their upcoming summer camp.

However, these donations did not exhaust our resources as the NJ chapter has received over 100 pounds of supplies from various benefactors over the past two months! Additionally, the NJ chapter is contacting schools looking to recycle their art supplies following the school year.

In Naperville, the Illinois Chapter has been regularly donating art supplies to local organizations for children such as One Hope United and Alive Center. Additionally, supplies were sent to children in the Dominican Republic as we expanded our global reach. These could not have been possible without generous donations from the community as well as CB&I’s company donation drive!

Starting August 5th, both the IL and NJ chapters will be collaborating with the Peace Corps. volunteers throughout the Dominican Republic and hosting an online raffle to raise funds. We have partnered with businesses such as Oberweis, Faded Moon, and Half Baked Goodness to bring our raffle participants items, gift certificates, etc.

As the summer break comes to an end, Colors4Change plans to make use of the remaining weeks. On August 12th, the IL Chapter will be hosting a sorting session, where volunteers can come help us sort through donations and create boxes to be donated. Sorting sessions are a great opportunity for local teens to contribute to the community and help children globally and locally explore the world of art!

Colors4Change is preparing for the upcoming school season and is ready to provide more children with the opportunity to utilize art as a creative outlet! Here’s to a productive Fall, Winter, and beyond! To contribute to Colors4Change’s mission, contact us at colors4change@gmail.com or +1630-362-6602.
